if you do that - your daughter will never trust you again, what is more important to you - checking archives or your daughter's trust?

talk to her, tell her that you're worried but never check personal things

There may not be any archives! I've used messenger for several years, but have specifically turned archives off.

Sounds like there is a LOT more going on in your family than just messenger. Perhaps you should be working on that, instead of the symptom?

Make sure you have passwords to all their accts. I have a daughter who is 13. At this point we have added separate log in's on our family computer and she does not have access to the Internet unless one of us logs her in. I check her history and her archive regularly but I also make sure she knows. To check for yahoo specifically log into her messenger click on contacts then message archive.

Good Luck. We can only do so much to keep them safe but its important they are armed with the ability to make good choices too.
