Clean it very often for the first few weeks and you have to leave the same ring in for like 2 months untill the whole is there sorta "permanently" ... I guess you could say .... Then you can leave it out for a few days without the hole closing up :)

Make sure you keep the piercing in so that the hole doesn't close up, but you can take it out when cleaning it. You can buy an antibacterial piercing solution from Claires or another store that does piercings. Clean it 2-3 times per day. Don't sleep on the pierced side of your head. I will make it inflammed. You'll feel fine in a few days to a week if you do this.

Keep it clean with rubbing alcohol or some cleaning solution they give you at ear peircing places. Also don't change your earring for about a month. It has to have time to heal and not close. This is what I did and was told. My ears never got infected. Just be sure to clean it at least 2 times a day and tiwst your earrings around. It keeps it from having the skin stayed attached. Eww gross huh

You have to clean the opening of the piercing every day with peroxide to keep it from getting infected and twist the earring in circles to keep the hole open until it completely heals which takes a couple of weeks

Clean it with alcohol twice a day. Keep the stud in for 6 weeks. Turn it often throughout the day. I actually put a loop in mine earlier than I was supposed to. The back kept getting caught in my hair and making it hurt worse. The loop made it feel much better. (the stud is a little thicker than other earrings which keeps the hole a tad larger) this keeps from getting the hole to small.

Most places suggest to leave the piercing earring in the hole for at least 6 weeks.

When I had my last cartilage piercing done, the piercer told me to wash it with an antibacterial wash three times a day for ten days and afterwards rub bacitracin (an ointment like Neosporin) on the site. I followed her instructions and healed well!

Karen Hudson at about.com has some good instructions, too.

Keep the stud in for at least a month. Turn it every few hours, and clean the area with Hydrogen Peroxide. After the first month, you can put a different earring in, if you wish.

Don't remove the piercing for at least 3 weeks. Keep it clean with astringent, and make sure to turn the piercing every couple of hours.

If you take the piercing out, it will seal up very quickly, and could potentially get infected.

Clean it & turn it daily. Leave in the earring they put in for about 6 wks. Clean with hydrogen peroxide daily & twist it to keep the skin from growing around it too tight. That should do it.

Keep the stud it was pierced with in for 6 weeks, remembering to turn the back and front twice a day. Also clean both back and front twice a day using a cotton bud soaked in surgical spirit.
