Ants gather seeds for their colonies and kill and recycle more harmful insects. They are also a major source of food for other insects, birds, and some animals. Eliminating them would leave a big hole in the bio system. They might even be responsible for pollinating some plants.
To get rid of an ant hill that is annoying YOU, empty a gallon of vinegar down the hole. The vinegar will kill the ants, but the ground will recover after the next rain. Not as toxic as gasoline and much cheaper than all those pesticides.

Ants are cool. Without them, the world would be in a terrible mess. They collect and process all kinds of tiny pieces of trash that fall off trees and plants and animals. They keep the soil loose so that plants can grow. E.O. Wilson at Harvard is one of the most famous biologists in the world. He said that ants are so important in the plant world that without ants, all the other living things would die in six months! Any way, you would have a tough time killing them all. Out of the total mass of all life on land, about 10 % of it is ants! That's a lot of stomping and mushing!!!! You should read up on ants and then you might appreciate them more.

In fact, ants are one of the world's most enthusiastic and energetic scavangers. Watch a line of ants some time, and you'll see they are busy picking up bits of stuff and packing it away. Without them, the world would be inches deep in garbage. They also aereate the earth by digging out tunnels underground. So they aren't quite as useless as they seem.

There is no way of killing ALL of anything in the world.
Ants are in a good part responsible for plant life on the planet. All the billions of holes they dig permits air and water to percolate into the soil. They also play a role in bringing nutrients that have leached through the root zone back to the surface where those nutrients can be used again.
Finally ants are part of the food chain. By killing all of them you would be harming many other organisms. Probably if you connected all the dots you would see eventually the loss of all ants would affect the food chain of humans.
They're a pest in your house so kill'em in your house but you can't kill them all just because you don't like them in your house. I don't like Praire Dogs in my house but I wouldn't want all of them to die.

You should not destroy all of them because they are really cute intelligent animals and good for dipping in chocolate. They send chemical signals out to each other when they are gathering food for the winter. Which I think is just a really neat and efficient way of communicating. You should leave a few of them for those of us who appreciate and like them.

If you wanna distroy your enemy "in this case the ants" be thier friends. Go to thier minds and see how they survive, make a plan and grt ready to vanish them and then fight till you win the battle.
I erase them by pouring boiling water on them :D.
