OH MY GOD NO!!!
That would be a really big ******* mistake.Think about that clearly before you ever would consider something like that. You can not do that.NO NO NO NO NO.Other countries suffer far worse terrorist attacks they rebuild and move on.Stop this commemorating bullshit.Honor those that were killed by doing something useful.Waving a flag, having a moment of silence and lighting a candle does not make you patriotic.Go volunteer at your childs school, help a homeless person,Do something to make a difference, but do not make this a holiday.

If we had a day of reconciliation and understanding, when we could as a nation try to build bridges between cultures and different points of view so we could prevent future 9-11s, I's say OK, fine.
As it is, every 9-11 we wallow in hate and disunity. Look at the President's speech, more or less accusing anyone who opposes the Iraq war of being disloyal to the USA. Some national holiday.

You mean like a National remembrance? Yes.

I'm feeling a little depressed today. This isn't exactly some holiday where I would feel happy and giddy inside. I would think more of a remembrance would be more correct and respectful to the innocent who died. :*(

I believe it is a day that should be remembered every year on a national basis. Should we observe it as a holiday? No, I don't believe we should. Holiday's are something you celebrate. 9/11 is certainly a day that we do NOT want to celebrate.

To celebrate WHAT? So people could drink to forget that they have to go back to work the next day? What about a national day of mourning for ALL the evil, injustice and slaughter world wide? Bush could lead us in prayer. I'm sure he will pick right up on this idea! What happened is tragic, but America is not the only country suffering losses.

Why? December 7 isn't a National Holiday?

i think it should be a national holiday. just like Martin Luther King made a difference so did the terrorist attacks of the world trade center, pentagon, and flight 93. if these events didn't make a difference, just ask the widowers/widows/children left behind what has changed for them. plus, look at our other holidays, like independence day???? isn't 9/11 a sort of independence day? we have learned alot from it.

9/11 is actually called Patriot Day. Efforts to make it a National holiday have been voted down. You are supposed to display the flag at your home and all flags are supposed to flown at half staff.

We should remember, we should pray, we should seek out ways that this never happens again... but we should not encase this day in a holiday. Walmart 9/11 days? I don't think so. I would hope that the U.S. is bigger than that.

No, there should not be.

I guess then there'll be banners at your local malls calling for the the "Big 9/11 One Day" sale and 'blow-out" deals at auto dealerships... Come on people, how much more and longer will you mourn 9/11???
