Like if they legalized it in small amounts and people could buy it at stores and they regulated it, couldnt they take the defeceit down at all? or would that just be a dumb idea? i mean the way i see it, if they legalize a small amount like an eighth of an ounce, possesion charges would go way down, and if it was like alcohol people could use it just not in heavy amounts, and who knows addiction could possibly drop because the thrill of doing it illegally would no longer be there.

When I was an EMT we picked up some people seriously injured in a wreck, we were following in a string of cars, in the 2nd car behind the wreck, and actually witnessed it. The driver was conscious and told me he thought he was following the road, but we saw him turn too far on a tight curve, cross to the left, and drive off a 50 foot cliff. The driver had life threatening injuries and had to be airlifted from the site, the girlfriend was killed. She was thrown out through the convertible top on impact and the car rolled right over her, and another guy had perminant brain damage. All 3 had been smoking pot during the morning the accident happened, but they got through a police roadblock for DUIs set up at the bottom of the hill. There is no way to spot check people under drug influence like there is for booze. Pot and other drugs still interfer with your reasoning and your personality just as bad as booze does. That is the major problem law enforcement and first responders have with it.

Yea okay , lets not make this about helping the economy.. Its about drug use. Cannabis is a term that refers to marijuana and other drugs made from the same plant ,cannabis, like sinsemilla, hashish, and hash oil. All forms of cannabis are mind-altering (psychoactive) drugs. The main active chemical in marijuana is THC. Short-term effects of marijuana use include problems with memory and learning, distorted perception, difficulty in thinking and problem solving, loss of coordination, increased heart rate, and anxiety. And like I have said to this same question do you want this country to become a bunch of pot smoking , cocaine sniffing, heroin shooting , meth scientist.. Have you seen a user ?? up close and personal? Now imagine most of the country in the same boat.. Have you ever heard the saying "locks keep honest people honest"? Same thing legalize drugs and people who wouldn't normally try drugs will. What this country doesn't need is more addicts

Marijuana is a gateway drug to what? Potato Chips? Whether you want to admit it or not, we all know countless people that smoke pot and have never or will never do anything harder. Over 70 million Americans have tried pot and not everyone is moving to harder drugs. There has never been a single case of lung cancer connected to pot either and the research states that (even Fox News published as article on that). Pot has been around for so long that if it were a real hazard, the data would be there.

Marijuana is very much a danger to the oil companies, alcohol, tobacco industries and a large number of chemical corporations. Various big businesses, with plenty of dollars and influence, have suppressed the truth from the people.

I think it would be a good idea. It is much safer to drive high than to drive drunk...although I wouldn't personally recommend either of the two. I would think that they could tax it in some way and make money off of it, but who knows what "THE MAN" is keeping secret from us about it!

The only thing that would hold the government from making a lot of tax money off pot, the way it does with booze and cigs, is that it is much, much easier to grow for yourself than other things affected by "sin taxes".

It's because of the way the Gov. classifies it. It's a class I, which makes it very illegal...if they would make it class 11, it wouldn't be illegal anymore....so until then, dream on....
