Hi Laura, the answer is yes they can. I do not mean Eastern Star, but admitted to full rites, lights and privileges. The Order is called Co-Masonry. Co- because it admits women and men, of all races. Most traditional Freemasonry today admits all races but will not admit women.

American Co-Masonry has been around since the early 1900s and our roots go back to the 1800s in France. We have Lodges throughout the United States, and some in Chile, Brasil, and Canada. We work what is called Blue Lodge (Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft, and Master Mason), some York rite degrees, and Scottish Rite. These we preserve in form that most Freemasons of any order would recognize.

We ask the same from our Brethren who are women as we do our men: 21 years of age or older, believe in a Supreme Being, are of good report / character, are tolerant of folks of other beliefs, are not slaves (including to drugs), and wish to make the world better by making themselves better. We are esoteric alchemists: changing the lead of our hearts into gold. A slow process.

If I can be of any service, please feel free to write to me. You might wish to click on the link below to read more and to ask for an application if you wish to join. We do not recruit; you have to ask.

Women cannot become normal Freemasons and be accepted around the world in the great majority of Lodges. They can become members of the Order of Eastern Star.

There is a type of Masonry known as Co-Masonry (which another person has described). If you become a Co-Mason, you will not be accepted in any normal Masonic Lodge as a member. Indeed, regular Masons take an oath to never sit in a meeting with a "clandestine Mason", meaning a type of Mason not recognized by the Grand Lodge of their jurisdiction. No F&AM or AF&AM Grand Lodge (regular Masonic bodies affiliated with the United Grand Lodges of England) in the world will accept a woman member or allow their members to sit in a Lodge of "clandestine Masons". So if you decide to become a Co-Mason, remember that you are cutting yourself off from the great majority of Masons.

In most lodges, women cannot become Masons. If your husband is a Mason, you can become a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. There are a few co-ed lodges and a few all women's lodges, but these a few and far-between. I'm giving you a link to information regarding women and Masons in the source list.

If you mean a stone mason, then sure anyone can learn the trade and build walls all over the place.

If you mean becoming a member of the Free Masons, then no, it is a fraternity, so it is for men. Although, I have heard of (heard of only, never researched to see if it was true for myself) special arrangements being made for women in countries other then the USA.

A Free Mason no - they can become an Eastern Star, which still means they worship Satan.

If you're talking about Freemasons, then no. It's an ancient rite for men, and though many people would argue that it is illegal and discrimination, it is a private organization and they can do what they want
