Do you think that people coming together in large numbers, for whatever reason, is an important part of our culture?
Say what you think and explain why.
Thank you.

The "our" is just a general statement. The reason I am asking is because we had a long discussion about it in my English class today and I wanted to know more of what the general public thought.

i think its good and important to have community feel...though we dont have it in many places now though. i think large groups are okay as long as its not just mob of chavs or a bunch of druggies or trouble on the streets (or are they the same?!!)

No, I dont think so. One commune in America thinks that a community of 150 people is the maximum that can be managed without it breaking down. You can't identify with a very large number, except in the most general terms. That is one of the reasons why the EU will fail. When I look at a football crowd, it is a sea of faces, meaningless. I can relate to the people around me though.

Not really, I think people do it for various reasons (concert, riot, protest, New Year) but it wouldn't really affect our culture if they didn't. If anything I think small groups of people are much more important, as in small communities meeting in a town or village hall for a community event. When there are hundreds or thousands of people it just becomes a mass of heads who probably don't know each other from Adam.

I'd say it's important for nice people to come together in large numbers to show the bigots and racists in our society what a small minority of no consequence they are.

Football fans spring to mind. I don't think they come to gather as part of a culture, just to see the opposition loose. And probably kick some butt!!!

Yes ....large festivals are tollarated but illegal raves arent ..

Large concerts in public and private grounds are allowed but 2 cars parked up together isnt allowed ...

My point (if i have 1) is that large communities coming together can only build bridges and help us stay together ,But only i guess if we are paying $$$ is it allowed
