It can really help the physician focus on the right preventative care for you and may save you money on your medical bills in the long run. There is a simple chart in the back of the book "Healthcare for Less" by Michelle Katz that may be helpful in terms of organizing your thoughts so you can present them easier to your doctor. The rest of the book has some great ideas on how you can save money in healthcare. I bought the book at my local Barnes and Noble and it has been very helpful.

IF you never have any rare illnesses it becomes less important, however, it is good to know abotu the tendencies so that you can design a preventative regimen.

If it's not possible to know, the best policy is to adopt a general prevention plan considering the biggies such as diabetes, heart, etc

If you don't know, simply say you don't know. I hate that, too. I was adopted as an infant and don't know anything about my birth parents. It's like a slap in the face every time I have to go to a new doctor.

It isn't a must-have however.
We understand those that haven't met their parents, or are adopted, etc...

Sorry to read that. Obviously there is nothing you can do about it. The best thing for you to do is get physicals, mammograms, yearly OB exams, etc.

Best of luck to you.
