I was watching my rat when i first got him, he was on my lap, and he made some mouth movements, like he was tasting the air, jus jaw bounced up and down, and some times when his jaw closed, his eyes bulged out, not on the floor out, but like there was some internal pressure, he does it sometimes when hes sitting on my desk, ill be stroking him and he would make the little jaw movements, and hes eyes looks like theyre gonna pop out, if you want to see a video, email me at Bobarama7k@yahoo.com before posting so you can respond. are they supposed to do this? also, when i pet him, he makes this grinding noise with his teeth, what does it mean, is it that hes happy? nervous? also, when i put them in the cage, one of them puts his teeth on my fingers, like hes gonna bite, but he does just that, outs teeth on my fingers, almost in his mouth, he never bites or puts pressure, so he cant be wanting to bite, what does that mean?

LOL. You have a very happy rat!!! The teeth grinding is called "bruxing" and they do it when they are happy. And the eye bulging is usually pretty hard to get them to do. That means they are super happy.
I don't know about the teeth on fingers though, sorry.

Like Em said, rats grind their teeth when happy and bulge eyes when very happy.

I imagine that he is just tasting your finger, sort of making sure that it is yours (and not made of food). One of my rats does something similar, then licks my hand after usually.

You seem to have a very happy rat who likes you a lot.

It's Rodney Dangerfield, reincarnated!

Maybe he needs something to chew to wear down his teeth some? That's what hamsters do. They need to trim their teeth so they won't get too long. Or something.

there is way too much pressure in this rat. Prick him with a pin but make sure you are holding him tightly or he will shoot around the room like a balloon with a hole in it.
