No. To see the gender depends on the position of the baby. If his/her legs were crossed, doesn't matter which gender, you just can't tell. I don't think you should trust her guess. The butt has nothing to do with gender.

I have my ultrasound scheduled at 19 weeks 2 days, this friday and i REALLY HOPE BABY COOPERATES! I have talked to a lot of women and one of them told me that her babie's legs were crossed too so it was hard to see, she had 3 ultrasounds done and they all indicated the baby was a girl because her legs were the same way all the time, but when baby was born it was a BOY! So if the ultrasound is not showing a clear picture I would just not hope for anything, as long as it is healthy you should thank God for this beautiful gift. You should have another one done and make sure the baby's legs are not crossed! Good luck to you!

If the baby's legs are crossed, the definitely can't tell if it's a boy or girl. However, when the Dr. can get a good view, more mistakes are made where girls are called boys than the other way around.
Go for another ultrasound to be sure. I wouldn't buy any pink just yet.

I dont think that it would be any harder to see if it were a boy or a girl. It depends on the baby really. I wanted to know what I was having, I was the only one who wanted to know everyone else wanted to be surprised. After sending everyone away the u/s tech and I looked and looked but it kept putting its hands inbetween its legs so we couldnt see a thing!
A few months later I gave birth to a pretty little girl.
It is nice to know what you are having so that you can prepare for it. I was upset for awhile that I had a girl, I was really hoping for a boy. I was relieved though that it was over and that she was healthy and accepted it as that.
There are lots of "old wives tales" that say you can tell the sex of the baby by how and where you are carrying .. and things like that.
try this one :) lol.

it has nothing to do with a boy or a girl. It has to do with position of the baby. With my first pregnancy they thought it was a girl for about 2 ultrasounds and then with the last ultrasound they changed it to a boy. You have to be able to see clearly otherwise girls could be mistaken for boys because of the imbilical cord. So you better not get your hopes up until its a definate view! Good Luck

Yes, that is true. With a boy there's really no mistaking...if you see the "hot dog", then it's a boy. With a girl, sometimes if you don't get a clear shot (i.e. if the legs are crossed), they may not be able to definitively tell what the sex is.

The only way to know definitively before the birth is to have an amniocentesis. The DNA testing will determine your baby's sex with 100% accuracy, but if you're not a high risk pregnancy, your health insurance probably won't cover it.

YES its harder to see if its a girl because sometimes they don't want to say its a girl cause if its a boy some take longer for the testes to "descend". Some boys may look like girls until....you know what.

about 20 weeks is the time that your able to distinguish the sex now if the baby lets you is a different story...you can always ask for another ultrasound if your doctor is not planning on doing another later on.

it would be only a guess if the baby's legs were crossed. ask if you would be able to have another ultra sound latter.also some dr.'s can tell the sex by its heart beat.
