Like I said I am writing a anime about werewolves. Knowing about them myself is cool but I want you, the fan's to give me your opinon. Stuff like what body build do they have (size, mass, length), do they answer to a master or act themselves, do they show remourse for those they've killed, and do their coats match their hair?, And how do they fight... Those are a few examples, any and all suggestions are open and would be of great help to me. THANKS.

Anything you think yourself would be cool to say too

It's not that I want all of them to be mean but and loose control, they change at will. But not always control it... On another note how would you feel if you had to look at your mutalated dead father everyday knowing you killed the abusive S.O.B. then was shunned by your family for doing so?

If werewolves were to exist they would have to retain the same body mass and weight they had before changing. The hairyness might give them a bigger appearance, but mass and weight would be the same. You can't have a 200 lb. man becoming a 400 lb. werewolf unless you could explain where the extra 200 lbs. came from.

Classical lycanthrophy (the madness that makes one believe he is a wolf) was considered a curse so they would not have a master but be more like a 'lone wolf.'

Did they show remorse? It depends on whether the 'madness' was a result of the 'change,' or the werewolf was already crazy.

Classical accounts record that when the madness came, for example as a result of the full moon, the werewolf was very remorseful. After changing back he would be riddled with doubt. Was it a nightmare, or did it really happen? Did he really 'murder' someone? While those who were already mad actually looked forward to the change and even bragged about their vile acts.

Their coats would match their natural hair. A peroxide blonde, for example, would change into her natural hair color and not necessarily blonde. LOL! (No offense intended, who doesn't like a blonde!)

Final note, in the classical legends not all werewolves were bad. Some actually protected people from real wild animals. Apparently they retained their reason and intelligence during the change and acted according to their 'true' nature. Some Native Americans even believe that the change is not controlled by the lunar cycle but effected by will and can be for so simple a reason as to run free, experiencing the wide sensory range of their 'spirit' animal. Having seen my Wirehair Terrior sniff the air, perk her ears and look around with wonderment when I sit outside with her drinking my morning coffee as she sniffs every breeze I can understand this philosophy.

Hope that helped. Good luck with your anime.

By all Means Stay away from the latest style of werewolves that look like they are Were-chihuahua. I hate the look of bug eyed, hairless creatures pretending to be werewolves ( IE: Remus Lupin, in Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban movie)

Like Undead Princess said, Underworld and the Howling movies make a great start. and for research the Werewolf: The Apocalypse is a great Resource for getting into the mindset of Lycanthropes.

I would have their coats reflect their clothing: that would be cool
Their personalities should be as diverse and varied as any on the planet, some will be remorseful and others will not care as to the carnage they bring, even enjoying the aspect of destruction. but none should be flat all of them should have an animal passion about what they are doing. Except for a young person who is just being drawn into the culture.

I like the concept in the Werewolf game that lycanthropes are a genetic strain of Humans, a Chimera of man and beast past from previous relatives to the future:

They should fight with an type of martial art that takes advantage of their size and unique shape.

As far as going from, a 200lb man to a 400lb snarling, frothing, bundle of hair and claws. You can explain it in one or two ways.
Either my magic, or by the physical response that the muscles go through when they are hit with extreamly high amounts of hormones that cause them to bulk up. like a super adrenaline that makes a normal "fight or flight" reflex look like a walk in the park.

I mean if they can grow claws and teeth and take on the aspects of a wolf in a few seconds why would they have to have the same mass. it is an unreal requirement for a creature of fantasy.

Body type should be wolf or dog-like with a few exaggerations, such as bigger (of course), longer (of course), with more hair and more general mass in the upper body (chest and shoulders), bigger fangs, and sort of a paw/hand hybrid. You definitely want to stay away from the "Wolfman," "I Was a Teenage Werewolf," and "Teenwolf" looks. Eyes should be red, yellow, or gray.

Typically, they don't have a master, or at least, I don't think they do (or should), but I don't think it would be a bad idea to have another werewolf in there that the werewolf community looks to with respect, or fear, oldest living werewolf or something like that. This could tie in with the remorse question. Your protagonist could be remorseful, maybe even searching for a way to undo their curse, while the older werewolf enjoys his power and long life. Might be a little too "Interview With a Vampire," but it does offer a certain measure of character depth.

Coats should match their personalities, and they should fight like canines.

I would say make the werewolves have different body builds, that will make each werewolve more interesting and diverse. Just like human beings have different shapes and sizes, so would werewolves. It would be kind of cool if they answered to a master, but he doesn't necessarily have to be a werewolve himself. I guess it matters if they are being controlled by a master maybe they can show remorse. But, if you want them to be just mindless killing machines they wouldn't have remorse. I guess when I think of a werewolf I would think that they fight like a wolf would.

- they don't answer to a master, they are more like wild free things running around
- to your questions" do they show remourse for those they've killed", I would think depends of each individual werewolves, like people they have different personalities/values/memories
- and do their coats match their hair?, not neccesarily. I would put some albinos, brunetts, etc. in your anime, like I say before they have different peronalities, phisic, etc.
- how do they fight, again depends, but really savagely bites like a wolf and with the nails.

Physiologically, nothing can exceed the mass it already has. So, they would not weigh any more. They would most likely be far more muscular. Hair the same. Fight? Like wolves. They would not be half man/ half wolf, but full wolf in body. Remorse? It depends if they are capable of feeling it in their human form. Some folks aren't. Take terrorist for example.

i like undead princess's answers... ok, try to look for white wolf "Werewolf, the apocolyspe." they are a role-playing game and have TONS of stuff, and also keep in touch with undead princess, she appears to know a great deal... like I said, werewolf, the apocolypse, the game has 12-15 different tribes books, and the main book, and the game underwent revision, and the new game sux, but the old rules witll give you a $hitload of info. I write as well, and have used hubby's extensive library of werewolf, the apoc. books for my research... hope that helps,

I suggest the movie Underworld, also the old Howling movies, and the Ginger Snaps movies. Maybe an American werewolf in London/Paris. All good werewolf flicks.

I will email my bro in-law, he knows tons. Contact me in a day or two and hopefully I'll have something for you.
