I know about this I have had to do this myself. Anything written by you in your hand is already copyrighted to you. You don't have to do anything else as long as you keep the master copy yourself but just for more security you can send one letter to the copy write register explaining your idea/synopse and send a exact copy to yourself in a self address envelope not to be opened. If then someone does challenge your copy write then the letter should be produced as such a time as proof.

The quickest and easiest way of proving copy write something is to put it in a sealed envelope and post it by special delivery to yourself. When it arrives sign for it yourself but do not open it. If anyone disputes the copy write then you can produce the unopened envelope as proof of delivery with a date on it.

Cheapest method. Place original in box and Fed Ex it to yourself from diffrent location. Make sure a sealed envelope with the date you send it is with the manuscript. Put your home address as the from and to addresses. Do not open unless you need to use it as evidance in a court of law. :-)

Send yourself a copy by registered post and do not open it. That is all you need as legal evidence that you wrote it.
