why is this worl d obess with worldly things like houses and cars and money? why not obess with love. kindness and fairness and friendshops... so sad

because my dear, love,kindness and friendship are all feelings while houses cars and money are the neccesities of life!!you can feel a house car or money,you need shelter to hide yourself from the storm and money to buy you your food!!

Well, if you're referring to what we would deem a 'capitalistic' or 'democratic' society, then the reason most folks obsess with worldly things is because that is the way that they've been trained from the time that they were babies.

Practically every moment we're awake we're being encouraged to buy something - some product or service that we most certainly don't need. And don't forget to get that extra cel. phone for your 5 year old daughter - wait - do you need to get a Blackberry???

Also, I think most people just slavishly and blindly follow their programming, or their addictions, depending upon the terminology you want to adopt. So what choice do we have but to chase an imaginary goal (wealth and happiness).

The work - the challenge - is to transcend your programming and find out who you really are - and what makes you really happy. You can't save the world but you can save yourself. And saving yourself is probably the best thing you could do for the world.

I recommend you read the book called "the celestine prophecy". I think you'd really enjoy it if this sort of behavior in the world bothers you. :)

In my opinion it mostly happens because people find getting things like cars, money and such things is much more straightforward than getting things like love or friendship, or being fair.

I think you'd really love the book. It'll probably make you feel a little better about the whole silliness in the world.

Because of the sin nature people are born with gets their mind off the principles of love that Jesus taught about. If one follows what Jesus taught, then the things of this world become unimportant. Matthew wrote that we should seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and then later the things of the world would be added to us. He wrote in another place that Jesus said we aren't to be worried about what we wear, what we will eat, etc. because if God can take care of even little birds who have no care for the world or beautifully clothe flowers in splendor, He will also even more take care of us. In another place it was written by Paul that we are not to be conformed to the world, but to renew our minds through the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. If people do this, then you can see the difference in their lives and material things won't matter so much.

The world we're living is not obsess with worldly things but it's inhabitants.

We hurt others and we even hurt ourselves. Countries wage war against another. Both lost, both has suffered.

When will it end? How did it began? This is the question left unanswered up to date. The time will come and the answer will be revealed to us.... Christ will come again...

Society, television, environment, religious manipulation and so on...all of them add up. Humans have lost sight of what it means to feel and these days everything has a financial value...even Love. I agree with you, it is Pathetic. If we could all learn to be more humane and more receptive to building and participating in productive healthy relationships- this world would be a far better place.

Well, first, because this world is own by the devil a lots of sickness, badness and suffering. people are so greed, materialistic all they want is money...money...money. because that's what satan wants them to do...to be like him, bad...bad. I mean, looking for money is not bad because we all need money in order to live, but being lovers of money is dangerous. 1 timothy 6:9 says: those who are determined to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and many senseless and hurtful desires. and for the love of money is the root of all sorts of injurious things.

I would like to know the answer to this also. Life is too short. Today is a good day for people to reflect and be thankful for what and WHO they have.
