Take her to Walmart and let her have her pick. My daughter is 6 and what I did for her was a made at home cat costume. Really easy. All black outfit. A bit of makeup on the face. Used a headband, painted it black and made the ears with felt and cardboard. Sewed then onto the headband. For the tail, used a knee high stocking with some paper towel rolls and big black garbage bags to fill it. Easy, easy, easy, and looked great. She won best outfit last Halloween.
You can also google parent magazines...they have many ideas in those as well.
Good Luck.

She could go as a bunny, leprechaun, cat or dog. She could go as a princess, generic or any specific princess. She could go as her favorite TV character. I hear sponge bob is pretty popular. I myself prefer Timmy Turner and Jimmy Neutron. When I was her age, I was Judy Jetson. She could be barbie, but that depends on her. She could be an angel, or a circus clown. If it's cold where you are, she could go as a scarecrow, so that she wouldn't have to put a coat over her costume. If she has brothers and sisters, maybe they could go as a group, like the three stooges, or three musketeers. Or you could go with her and you be Batman and she could be Robin. She could be Pooh Bear, Tigger, or Piglet. She could be Dora the Explorer. You could get a kitchen garbage bag and a whole bunch of purple balloons and she could go as grapes. She could borrow a trench coat and go as inspector gadget (but she probably doesn't even know who that is). She could be a witch, a pumpkin or an M&M. Ballerinas are always popular, too. Doesn't she have any ideas?

When I was seven, I think I was Cleopatra. My mother always made my costumes, and when I was a young child, I was a unicorn, a princess, Raggedy Ann, and a mummy!
Other ideas:
Nymph or fairy
Maid Marion
Snow White
Little Red Riding Hood
Rapunzel (make a wig out of braided yarn)
Does your daughter have a favorite painting? She could be the Mona Lisa with frame too!

When I was a kid I was a present one year. I won several awards with school. You just take a giant box that your daughter can fit in and still walk. Than you wrap it with wrapping paper and bows, gift card, etc. You cut our a spot for the head, and a spot for the arms. It is actually pretty easy and it's a fun idea.
Good Luck!

The Disney Store has adorable Princess costumes. They are a little pricey, but the dresses are beautiful!

I have an eight year old. Let her dress up like an adult. With make up and nice clothing with ear rings and other jewelery. Find some nice shoes not high heels. Encourage her to take a large doll and use that as a prop.
