How do I eliminate the mold around the back of the sink basin on my kitchen countertop. Common cleaning solutions including bleach are not working. I believe the surface is formica?

It sounds as if you are not reaching the mold - something is preventing the bleach from getting to all of it, because bleach does kill mold. You need to remove whatever is preventing the bleach from working and as others have said, that is probably the caulking.

Is the formica in good shape or bad shape? Is it chipped? Could the mold be actually in the material under the formica surface? If so, it may be a bigger job than just cleaning as it might need to be replaced to really fix the problem.

You actually don't need to use bleach if you would prefer something more environmentally friendly. Ordinary household white vinegar kills mold, bacteria, and germs.

I agree but when you remove the old caulking use a fan to make sure all is dry .. also check for any cracks or lifting of the formica and any leaks that you may not be aware of.

20 Mule team Borax is the perfect I actual have used it for years without sick outcomes etc and we've 2 cats and a newborn and 40 3 Land Hermit Crabs. Sprinkle it around window and door frames interior and out of doorways, under cabinets and interior them too. alongside baseboards or the place you spot there are roaches stunning out.

Yes, remove all the caulking. Then pour straight bleach on it or acetone nail polish remover on it. Works like a charm! Try boiling water, too.

sounds like the mold may be under the calking on the sink...my advice is to remove all the old calking, clean well with a bleach solution, let dry completely, and re-calk.
