I was in 4th grade, and I was in math class at my elementry school. The day was a normal day: My teachers lecturing, the recess activities, and everything. We hadnt recieved any information. So then, on the school bus home, me and my friend overheard some talking, but we didnt know what was happening. Then, at home, I learned the news: The planes crashed into the twin towers and the pentagon. At first, me being an idiot 9 year old, wondered what the big deal was if no one died. I was badly scolded and told over 1100 people died in the tower. then, 180 people died in the pentagon. Thats when I realized it was of serious importance.
IOf anything I learned from it, its that not everything is safe and we are very open to another attack. So we must all have faith and hope everyone will be okay if anything like this occurs ever again.

in Kansas with my 6 year old son, watching it when they cut into the show I was watching. The fact that we watched it happen live in real time was so powerful. We cried together, and I tried to explain what was happening to him but words were like saw dust in my mouth. When they reveled that Wichita(that's us) was #5 on the alternate target list I just could not stop shaking. Over Wichita, the sky's were packed with planes being diverted to us because of the no fly zone. Later that same day,the sky went silent. NO planes, no jets, no helicopters, nothing, not one little stripe in the Sky. It made me feel afraid, and I don't know if you can understand that unless you live in a city that is mostly air plane industry. The next day, I knew it was not just me being a big girl about the whole thing when I went to the city courthouse. The window cleaners were hanging a banner for the victims of the trade centers and pentagon (no one knew the town the other plane went down in yet) and when some one looked up and said whats that, Everyone there stopped, was silent and looked up with fear, to see if the silent sky's betrayed us, like it did those others. When all saw and understood it was just a banner, the effect of the fear was still there on their faces. I have never thought of a no fly zone again with the same detachment I had before.

I was sitting in an orthodontist office waiting for my friends daughter to get her braces checked.
At that time I lived close to the refinery in Ohio and my granddaughter was up there being babysat at a home real near
there and I went and picked her up because if we were going
to be blown up I wanted her near family at least. It was a
time of fear, sorrow, and confusion. Truthfully I just couldn't
believe it was happening. It made me love and appreciate my family and friends even more.

On my way to work (in So Cal) and heard the news on the Howard Stern show. Listened on the radio for about an hour while I drove to the office. He had great coverage that morning. Quite tramatic and moving. What a day...
