I stay in Virginia, & My parents are okay with it just as long as he stays in my life for the baby. Can he still get in trouble? & Will emancipating myself make any difference if he could still get in trouble? Also, will the doctors report him if he's in the delivery room when I have the baby?

Most doc's don't know (and don't care) about the age of the father. They may be concerned with your age, due to the increased risks to you. Most states do consider what you and your boyfriend are doing "statutory rape", which means that while sex is concentual, you are under the legal age for consent. Weird how they figure there can actually be an age of consent, huh? I wouldn't recommend emancipation. Most states won't gratn emancipation without proof that A:)You can take care of yourself WITHOUT help from your parents, and B:)There is neglect/abuse, whether physical, mental, or financial, being comitted by both parents. I do want to say that it is never a good idea for someone to force a father to stay in the mother's life, even if they have the best of intentions. The most your family should really care about is that he is there for the child, if you two should ever part ways. He can be a part of the baby's life without having to be a part of yours. I know it sounds impossible, but millions of divorced families have had to learn that the hard way. I do hope for the best...for all of you.

You will have to check with the laws in your state. Each state is different. If your state consideres it Statiroty Rape, than getting and emancipation now will do no good, you are already pregnant. Also, it will have a lot to do with your parents, if they do not want to press charges, he may be ok. I do not think that anyone would have a problem if he is willing to be there for you and the baby. Good luck!

Well, basically your boyfriend could get in trouble because you are underage.Unfortunately there is no guarantee that your boyfriend will stay in your live for the baby, just make sure that he pays child support if he is leaving. As far as I know, doctor's are not allowed to report any under aged women to the police. But they might want to talk to him about the responsibilities he is about to get into.

each state has their very own rules in this. In Wisconsin, the age of consent is eighteen. And if Social amenities or police discover out, they're going to press prices and it would not be counted in case you moms and dads enable it or no longer. in this state your moms and dads might want to get arrested in the adventure that they suggested they allowed it. you may want to get emancipated, yet you need to have a job and practice that you'll help your self. no longer basically having your boyfriend assist you or somebody else.

No, he can't get in trouble unless you or your parents press charges. You can't emancipate yourself--that is up to your parents. I suggest you do though, it will make things easier for you. Good Luck and Congratulations!

you are a very lucky person, if your parents had decided to press charges he could have gotten in seriouse trouble, even if you were mosly the person who wanted to do it. He can be in the delivery room, he is the father and over 21.

The doctor's are not going to ask his age if he is simply in the room with you. I think statutory rape is more of a civil crime that can be punishible by law - meaning that your parents would have to press charges.

Don't worry and embrace parenthood - it's tough! I was 17.

Don't know about Virginia, but in Texas, if the parents don't file charges, the state will.

As long as your parents are fine then you will be okay. The doctors won't say anything about his age, they will be more concerned about your's. Good Luck, sweetie
