Yes this is normal. It is also normal to recover memories that you thought were gone forever. There are some techniques to help this natural process along. You can find them on Amazon or any large bookstore.

I went through a memory reconciliation several years back on Dr, Timothy Leary's "Game of Life" program. I knew this would be way out there and it was. We started on the first day as single cell organisms and slowly worked our way up through child hood then to the present and onto the future. The idea was the activate the genetic material that is already there. I don't know how much I learned but it was entertaining and I did recover a lot of memories and was able to clear away a lot of space to get the creativity flowing again.

I don't remember anything before 1st grade. But my brother on the other hand can remember things from a very early age. I have not looked into it that much as I don't think my child hood memories could be that interesting, but I don't see it as anything wrong. I know there have been cases were memory lose happened after a traumatic event. But I think in most cases it is normal. I am not a doctor though so I could be completely wrong.

I remember from the age of 3 and up. But its all very cloudy. By the age of 7 or 8 all my memories are clear. The difference between you and me is I still live in the same town I was born in and therefore am in the same environment. So remembering comes naturally to me.

Yes! Every one is different. I can remember things from when I was 2 or 3 but my sisters first memories are around the time she started Kindergarten. It just depends on the person.

Absolutely normal. In early development a child's brain structure is still going through changes and maturing. One significant stage is 'pruning' and it is a key developmental stage.

Also memory and retention is not fully matured so it is not easy to remember stuff from 0-6 yrs old.

Yes, you might have some fuzzy memories earlier on, but you usually start to develop your long term memories around 5 or 6 years of age.
