i'm gonna giv u general suggestions on what you can do...u may or may not have already dun the following:
- have the latest firmware (download from manuf's website)
- re-install cd OR completely uninstall software if u hav already installed it and re-install it tht way
- USB coinnectivity so check for latest USB firmare AND/OR drivers (did u install drivers successfully; restart)
- does the software work? if yes, meaning you can download ur pictures etc from ur d/cam then but ur comp does not recognise it through "control panel => cameras" folder - if so i don;'t have a solution to tht.

First check your connection. Secondly, check your cord. It could be bad but I would also try plugging it into different USB ports. The port could be the problem.

your connection cord is spoilt, change it and it will run fine
