Go to a store, preferably Walmart, and buy a tall can of dust remover. We use that to clean motherboards and parts of the computers. It's cheap and it works. It's a whole lot convenient having the bottle at your home then having to carry it around and pay for someone to look at it and probly do the same thing for 5 times more! Just be careful with that stuff though bc if you inhale it, it will freeze your lungs up and make you die! It's a very good product, but very dangerous!!! Hope I helped!

I have an emachine, I have 2 actually, I have had one for 5 years and am yet to have a problem out of it, but, I open my tower to clean and vacuum all of the dust out about every 6 months. If dirt clogs the intake ports for the power supply fan it will overheat the power supply and it will fail. Take it back to circuit city and let them install a power supply in it. If thats not the problem then they can't charge you anything for it. They actually have to fix the problem before they can charge you. Sounds like to me best buy is trying to rip you off and get you to buy a new pc from them! If the motherboard was burnt up the power light would at least come on but the pc would not boot or do anything else. Trust me on this! Your power supply is bad and can be replaced alot cheaper than what you can buy a new pc for!

E-machines are not expense. I own a desktop and a laptop from them. But, a power supply is only about $20. If you are handy, you could replaces this yourself. I think Best Buy was just trying to get you to buy a new machine from them. Try the power supply and if that doesnt fix your problem you are only out $20. After having your machine for 3 years, technology has advanced so much that your old machine is out of date. I wouldnt bother with a new motherboard. I am posting 2 links where you can buy the power supply pretty cheap. Tigerdirect also sells entire setups.

If the power supply/motherboard was bad, there's no way they could've checked it for viruses etc. Also, a new power supply is cheap, you can get a good one for around 20-30. And a cheap one like the original for around 10-15. Motherboards in e-machines aren't expensive either. The only problem is that you need to know how to put it in. It sounds like a power supply to me. Take your computer apart and get the power supply out and take it to CompUSA, the person there will help you find a new one, go home, plug it all back in and you should be good to go. Good luck.

Buy one on Ebay, i did and saved 100's.
OR
you can get them to put a new motherboard in...but depends on price.
Brandon is right, you can get a new motherboard for about 100 bucks.
Yes, it is easy to maintain your PC...just open the tower and clean it out every few months. That is what i do. Make sure you buy an anti-static wristband though. I use make up brushes to clean the dust out.

A motherboard does not cost as much as a new machine... look around for a motherboard. Dust is a major killer, you should clean your PC regularly... and cool it too, if the temperatures in the desert get too hot, your PC is better off shut; don't run it for long hours without cooling

The e-machine is a cheap pc. Go to a used computer store and get a white box or a dell. These are generaly, if ot always, more reliable, and they are cheap used. 100 to 300.

that is rediculous. to replace the motherboard is simple, fast and inexpensive. you may spend $500 for a new machine or $50-$100 to replace the mobo. I have done similar jobs for less.

So how did you post this question?
They are right at BestBuy. You should vacuum your computer periodically. (You don't have to take it anywhere, you can do it yourself if you're careful.) AND a motherboard is dreadfully expensive. AND if your computer is 3 years old, you're entitled to a new one anyway.
