and silence speaks a lot when things really matter...

how much do you agree?

I agree completely. Ordinarily, I am a quite intelligent and articulate individual, but sometimes I simply do not know the best thing to say, or how to say it best.

In those cases, I may try to do my best, and it simply doesn't communicate the message I am trying to convey to the other person. Sometimes words can say too little, and may come across as trivial or banal.

Silence goes two ways; sometimes silence can be interpreted badly when things really matter. That can be painful to the other.

Sometimes, a meaningful hug, a smile, a look, a nod of the head, or a squeeze of the hand can convey so much more than mere words ever could articulate.

(It just isn't the same from a stranger over the internet, but it's the best I can do)

To You,

The Best Always
And All Ways

The only thing that comes to mind as I read this question is an instance of tragedy and, that being the case, whether to say something or keep silent depends on the individual. For me, I completely agree. I never know what to say to someone whose suffered a loss, and I always hope that standing by quietly is enough support. However, I had an uncle who always seemed to know just the right thing to say regardless of the circumstances. It just came naturally to him to be able to say something comforting and reassuring.

Agreed. The right words at the right time, the right actions at the right time and silence at the other times.
Peace.

Yes, silence can tell you a lot about a person. Also tone of voice, facial expressions, even more so that the actual words.
