Yes they do, and they sleep mostly during the day when your active, because the vibration from you moving soothes them. thats why a lot of babies like vibrating bouncers. my daughter is odd though, she ahtes them. they usually develop a sleep awake schedule around 4 or 5 months, so don't panic if you begin to feel the baby less at certain times of the day. if you're worried, poke your belly, that usually wakes them, especially if you poke their leg. my daughter kicked back everytime i did that.

Okay, I had to call my mom on this one. she's a labor nurse. Now to try to repeat what she said. Yes, they do have sleep cycles. If someone is worried about not feeling the baby move they should try going to a quite place, drink some water or juice and concentrate on the baby's movements. Usually the baby is more active after mom eats or drinks. But sometimes mom's don't realize that baby is active because they are not paying attention. Baby's definitely have their sleep cycles. That's not all but I can't remember all the clinical stuff.

I'm a tummy sleeper too. As long as it's comfortable, then go ahead. Place pillows under your chest and your hips to take some of the weight off of your stomach. Sleeping on your left side is best for circulation but it's fine to sleep any way you want except for on your back in your last trimester.

Yes, mostly during the day when the mother is active. The movement and sounds sooths them. This is why babies sleep more during the day after birth. They are use to being awake at night, it is their sleeping pattern.

My doctor says it's safe to sleep anyway that I please during pregnancy except on my back. I guess a main artery runs down through your back and as your uterus becomes heavy it can slow down blood circulation to the uterus. You can sleep on your stomach for as long as it is comfortable to you! Your baby is fine, and is meant to withstand a lot in the womb. I personally LOVE sleeping on my stomach, it seems like it's the position I'm most comfortable in. My mother laid me on my stomach as a baby, and I guess it stuck with me.
