The Question is based on a book: The Odessey of Homer

In the first paper you should explore an image, set of images or Homeric simile from the Odyssey to see how it shows the action of the work as a whole, particularly related to Odysseus' homecoming. Examples of this include the olive tree (which we've done a good bit of work with in class), the bow, seating arrangements, birds, food, etc. Do not summarize the action, but rather dwell with one image to see how it illuminates the action.

(what does she mean by "action")

Please HELP!!

I would think that by"action" she means the storyline.

I agree, too, I think the action is the plot. Your teacher might want you to write how the images in the odyssey make the plot of the work more understandable. I would ask her to "illuminate" what it is she wants you to do.

It sounds like she might be referring to foreshadowing, which is like a hint of what is to come.

In Greek epics, the objects were usually related to gods, such as the olive tree relates to Apollo, who pursued a nymph named Daphne, his ardor remained unrequited because she changed into an olive tree. Odysseus' was separated from his love Penelope for twenty years.

You should stay in school forever. I realize you are 55 years old and still in the fifth grade, but you seriously need help.
