When on aim my closest guy friends always say hi, how are you doing, what's up, that kind of thing when we first open up a conversation. I just became friends with this one girl a couple months ago and we have rapidly become really close. We still were exchanging the usual pleasantries until about a week ago when she started just getting into a conversation as if we had not stopped talking (we do talk practically every night).
I was wondering if this was normal for women or if she's starting to think something else of me?
In the past we she has also started saying things that I do/say are cute which she has said means she finds them attractive.

Thanks, good comments so far. To address the questions:
She doesn't keep her window open.
We are both single and we both act like it.
I asked her out and she said "we'll see" (I asked her just before she changed her pattern). She wanted to meet in person first (we haven't met in person yet nor talked on the phone as she is nervous about meeting someone from online because of her upbringing).
Lastly yes I have seen when harry met sally, never the whole way through but most of it and I actually have thought about that.
I really appreciate all the ideas though, thanks.

Sorry, meant to say "in the past week she has started to say that things I do/say are cute," not "in the past we."

it depends... here's what i learned recently thru Experience as well as Observation...:
if u Like this girl, more than a friend, u gotta do something about it asap. cuz the longer u continue this "friendly" conversation, and u don't do anything about it, and SHE doesn't do anythign about it, then the more likely u will be stuck in the Friend Zone---> she likes hanging out w/ u, she thinks ur a great guy...but for Someone ELSE. more likely than not, even if she did have feelings for you, if she doesn't ask you out soon, that means you have to do it, or get stuck in the F.Z.
so... my advice to u is, if u like her , or want to get to know her better than just a friend, ask her out on a date. that way u will know if she is into you that way or not. if she says "ok", then u are good to go. but if she says "i just wanna stay friends", then that means she really just wants to be friends.
***btw...have u seen "when harry met sally?" =T it is really hard for boys & girls to stay "just friends" cuz someone is always gonna have flirty feelings or something... so u have to use ur head as well as ur heart to figure it out. and if a girl goes out w/ u on a date, and she knows it's a date, that's a good sign. but if she hangs out w/ u, but thinks ur just friends, and doens't want more but may flirt w/ you, that usually means she's just being a girl and wants attention, but is not Interested in that way. so to protect YOUR feelings, u have to "be a man" and just let her know what page ur on. so if u like her, ask her out. so her actions will let u know if she's on the same page as you.
same goes for going in for the kiss..if u want to kiss her, do so, but observe her reactions: if she lets u kiss her/kisses u back, it probably means she likes u too. but if she pulls away or says, "i dont like u that way," she is letting U know that she doesn't feel the same way.
good luck!

AIM is notorious for being the killer of relationships...be careful. Do not read too much into things because you can't read subleties like sarcasm, tone of voice, etc.
Make her write exactly what she means. This will be difficult, but I have confidence that you can do this. Work at it slowly.
She also may have your conversation still up in the window and never closed it out or something like that. Talk on the phone if you can. This is much better.

Are you Single, without a girlfriend?
You left that out.
If you do, then act like it, and let her known it again.
