I think it's stupid! I was talking to my friend about it, and she said that if he wouldn't quit for her, she'd leave him... Unless she was 'deeply in love'...
I, honestly wouldn't.

My husband quit smoking 3 yrs before I did. I wasn't ready to quit. I told my husband I would quit once I was pregnant and that seemed very unlikely at the time and I only smoked at work

March 21 st 2003, I called off work cause I wasn't feeling well. Went to the drugstore to get a pregnancy test and pack of smokes. I thought what the heck the test is always negative and Ill need a smoke to comfort me after I look at the negative test

I was standing in line waiting to purchase my items and I looked at the cigarettes and I just said NO I don't need anything else, this is all I need ( the pregnancy test ). Well folks , needless to say I have never smoked again =)

it's been almost 3.5 yrs smoke free! I don't tell people to quit, it's extremely hard to do so unless someone is really ready to do so
Alot of you are blowing smoke out your *** without knowing what you're talking about unless you're an ex smoker, its harder than quitting crack they say.

If he was smoking before they met and she's demanding he quits, I can tell you she wont have a boyfriend much longer =)

Yes. I grew up in a home full of smokers. I promised myself I would never marry anyone like that. Yes, I have dated smokers (and yes... I am a former smoker, I started when I was 6 years old and the last time I had a cigarette was when I was 12) ... I have kissed smokers. It is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. I HATE the taste of cigarettes when I kiss someone. It is horrible! Plus, smokers tend to stink. If I could not enjoy kissing someone, I could NOT be with them. It is like licking an ashtray.

So... NO I would not be with a smoker. Thankfully I am married to someone who feels the same way I do.

You don't go into a relationship wanting to change someone. If smoking was unacceptable for you, then you shouldn't have started a relationship with a smoker in the first place.

My husband LOVED smoking...NOTICE I said LOVED!! I am a non smoker and have been for my entire life ( I'm 41 yrs old!) When I met him, 5 yrs ago..he was a smoker (heavy at times..) he had NO INTENSIONS of quitting...UNTIL my mother was given less than 2 months to live...she had lung cancer and bone cancer..She BEGGED him to stop FOR MY SAKE..cause she knew I couldn't handle losing HIM the same way I was about to lose HER!

It's a horrible way to watch someone you love die...he's been a non smoker for just over 4 yrs...he walked out of the hospital the day my mother asked him to quit and he threw away a brand new pack of cigarettes!! She's been gone for just over 4 yrs...and every day he thanks her for making him save his own life by quitting!! Now he'll be around for our sons!!!

Unless they started smoking while they were already your partner it is pretty conceited to start dating them one way and expect them to change for you...

I guess it depends on how you feel about smoking. If you feel strongly against smoking then yes, it can change how you feel about others who do smoke. I feel very strongly against smoking and choose not to date anyone who does smoke.

Well, if she goes into that relationship with him already smoking, then it's no one's fault but her own for getting involved with that person.

Yes! Relationships involve sacrifice if they are serious about one another. If he doesn't sacrifice something like smoking, imagine what other things he won't give up! Bottom line: He doesn't care enough!

What promises were made prior to dating? You can't expect someone to change... they are who they are and should run their own race!
