What do you think were some of the thing your parents expected out of life when they were your age? Have times changed that much that we expect more?

yes i expect more out of life. my mom got married right after highschool and never made anything of herself. and because she did not expect much out of herself she didnt expect anything out of her children either. this caused her to never care about our education or even saving up some money for us to go to college. now im looking to finish my bachelors and it is very hard.. she will not help at all. she told me the other day "i never expected you kids would go to college."

i do not want to give my children the life i had to deal with. my expectations are higher of myself and them. i will get my degree and i will save up money for when i start a family i know they are secure in their future. i want them to have a life, and enjoy it too. not struggle like this.

Actually, I expect less. I think the baby boomers were really over achievers and worked very hard. My dad was a very successful CPA and my mom worked once I was in middle school. They were great parents, but they focused more on their jobs than us because my sister and I both liked school and could entertain ourselves. I do not plan to work as hard as my dad, and I don't expect to make as much. But I will be much more hands-on with my son, like coaching little league, playing sports with him, helping with the homework, etc. My dad did not do those things.

I definately expect a lot more than my mom... I don't know what she expected in life but I look at her, and don't want to be anything like her.. I love her to death, and she's been a great mom, I just want more out of life in every which way... She has a very negative attitude about things, and I'm nothing like that...

It would be hard to expect more then my parents have. They worked their butts off and now they have everything. They are multi-millionaires with everything they need. I do expect to be just like them, or even better. It will take a lot of hard work, but I am determined. My parents are awesome!

No, now in my own observation I think that acquisition beyond my basic needs is not necessary in my life though I am earning more than my basic needs. These extras are intended to help other people that deserve assistance.

my parents worked, paid bills, washed clothes and mowed the grass....I don't think they had any dreams or aspirations....Thank God I got out of there when I did.

They taught me right from wrong and for that I am grateful
