Something in that price range I would go with a civic. If you get an old car, your going to be constantly repairing it or changing some kind of belt or filter. Old cars don't last as long as a civic would, that is unless you totally restore the car. Old cars look great, but they do take a lot of money to keep running well. My dad used to own a shop and we had a few old cars. Same with my friends and they were constantly working on it. If you have the time and the money, go for it. It's a great hobby and it's always great to learn about cars. But if your concerned about money, I'd get something that's going to be practical. Good on gas, reliable, will last you quit some time, affordable, safe, and so on. Just a suggestion! =)

In answer to Master Hoyle 3 grand isn't going to buy a hummer moron.
You best to stick with old civics and Corollas, 3 grand really doesn't buy a lot of car. Also you'll never get a classic mustang for 3 grand, even an old rusted out wreck 69 is going to cost more than a new GT.

If you want something that runs forever at a cheap price, buy a used Toyota. I've owned 2 Chevys and a Ford before my Toyota and the Toyota is by far the best. I'd rather buy American, but I'm not going to keep throwing my money away.

I have always had good luck with cheapo Japanese cars.
Once between cars, I bought a Nissan hatchback for $2,000 bucks. I drove that car with 0 problems until I bought a new car. I remember driving home in a snowstorm and seeing fancy cars in ditches all the way home, but my little front wheel drive Nissan kept on going!

a 1970's volkswagen beetle its so much cooler than a honda civic; your bound to get one for less than £3000; you may shrug away from a classic car but their actually quite well made.... and they were designed by Dr Porsche!!!
*good in the snow as well rear wheel drive with the engine in the back.
good luck

I'd stick with Honda....you could get another Civic from the mid to late 90s for about that much.

Get a 1997 or newer Pontiac Grand Prix. They look nice and are reliable cars. My 1991 Grand Prix has 220,000 miles on it but its ugly so get the newer ones.

For 3000 I suggest a family sedan, cuz some old couple drove it. If you buy a mustang it might be destroyed by a street racer.

I'll sell you my honda accord (97); 130K miles. The car needs a new battery, but other than that, it's good to go.
You live in california? Note me.

Early 90's Camry's have been good to me. Or Accords...just be careful as they are easy to steal.
