Yes, alien exist on other planets.

Maybe. That's the best short answer anyone can say for sure.

However, the answer also depends on how you define "life". I don't think you meant microbial life, as it is quite sure there are some microbes living on Mars.

Dr. Frank Drake proposed formula to calculate probability of being able to communicate with another intelligent life form in the universe. This is basically factor of
- how many stars are born in Universe
- the fraction of them that have planets
- the fraction of above (planets) that have hospitable enironment to support life
- the fraction of above that actually go on and develop life
- the fraction of above that go on and develop intelligent life
- the fraction of above that are willing to communicate
- the expected lifetime of such a civilization.

Of course all these fractions are pretty small, but as the number of stars getting born are very big. And many of these fractions we don't have scientific answer, but just guesses. For more details to what the guesses are and what the result is, see the link.

But generally, there is so far no strong arguments to assume that there could not be another place, beside us, where there are intelligent "aliens", as there is nothing soo "special" about the place were we live and how we developed. Except that so far there is no scientifically proven, publicly known contact with them.

It's possible. I highly doubt it, but possible.

If it were so, I'm sure some advanced race would have already noticed the intelligent life here on earth, and made contact. I mean, we can't very well be the first life that exists, assuming there is other life out there... after all, compared to the universe, the earth is supposedly just an itty bitty baby.

What would totally crack me up is if scientists discovered we were truly the only life in the whole universe... it'd make scientists rethink everything they thought was fact. I wish I could see the day.

We do. Over the centuries, your planet was a curious place to visit once or twice and was not considered very interesting . Sure, your wars showed us how undeveloped you are as a species and your infantile,(in cosmic terms) dependence on god concepts does not bode well for you. We are now showing an interest in you because it is not often that we get to observe a species commit suicide. You are so close to maturing as a sentient species and it will be a shame to see you kill yourselves. There are just not enough of you becoming rational enough to force the issue. You let the least among you determine your fate, so be it.

If we don't know about it we won't know if it exists.

Seriously......Most likely there is life on planets elsewhere in the universe. Computer models have found that earth like planets located in habital zones may be found in as many of 1/3rd of solar systems. This is good news for the possibility of life in the universe.

Well, if we don't know about it how can I answer intelligently?
If I have to fathom a guess I would say the possibility exists but until an alien walks up and kisses me on the lips... I find it more and more unlikely.

Have a great day and itsu bintok caruganjen.... [which is alien for may your camel always spit dates!]

Definitely!
With an estimated 100 Billion Galaxies with about 100 Billion stars each (the Milky Way has between 100 to 400 Billion stars), it would be preposterous to think otherwise.
There are more stars than grains of sand on all the beaches of earth. Think about it!

Earthlike planets covered with deep oceans that could harbor life may be found in as many as a third of solar systems discovered outside of our own, U.S. researchers said on Thursday.

These solar systems feature gas giants known as "Hot Jupiters," which orbit extremely close to their parent stars -- even closer than Mercury to our sun, University of Colorado researcher Sean Raymond said.

The close-orbiting gassy planets may help encourage the formations of smaller, rocky, Earthlike planets, they reported in the journal Science.

"We now think there is a new class of ocean-covered, and possibly habitable, planets in solar systems unlike our own," Raymond said in a statement.

The team from Colorado, Penn State University and NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center Maryland ran computer simulations of various types of solar systems forming.

The gas giants may help rocky planets form close to the suns, and may help pull in icy bodies that deliver water to the young planets, they found.

"These gas giants cause quite a ruckus," Raymond said.

Water is key to life as humans define it.

"I think there are definitely habitable planets out there," Raymond said. "But any life on these planets could be very different from ours. There are a lot of evolutionary steps in between the formation of such planets in other systems and the presence of life forms looking back at us."

As many as 40 percent of the 200 or so known planets around other stars are Hot Jupiters, the researchers said.

If there's other planets we don't know about then the answer is we don't know. If we don't know about the other planets then we don't know if there is other life forms.

I think they do. This universe is far too large for us to be the only life. I think they are out there somewhere and hopefully they are nice to us when we meet them!
