It is hard to tell for sure with out some type of a description but most likely you have a trumpet vine.

Trumpet vine (Campsis spp) is normally orange, red or yellow. Never heard of a pink one. If you've got Campsis, you'll know it by its vigorous growth and "toothed" leaves. The blooms are 2 or 3 inches long.
Another possibility would be cypress vine. We grow this vine for sale in peat pots and 3" containers. It has a very finely cut leaf and 1 and 1/2 to 2 inch blooms in shades of red.
Campsis does have that star shaped pistil you described, I seem to remember...but the color doesn't sound quite right.

(Archilochus colubris) Plant in good rich soil and water well. It likes to be moist but not wet. Also, if you want it to bloom continuously, feed it with Miracle Gro 15-30-15.
