I was sat at my pc at work......I recieved my daily stock market pre-opening report at 9:01am.....this is an excerpt:
"NEWS FLASH -- A PLANE APPARENTLY HAS HIT THE WORLD TRADE CENTER IN NEW YORK. TUNE INTO CNN FOR DETAILS -- Well, we've been getting some hate mail about the program schedule changes. For you long time CNNfn viewers in the 8-9:30 a.m. EDT period, please don't get too mad. David and I will try to give you the best we can. I know, we're not Jack, but Jack can't stay on set for three-and-a-half hours. Hot lights, ya know. He starts at 6 a.m. now on both CNN and CNNfn. Too early? Maybe a little VCR or Tivo action? We need all the viewers we can get ... even "
The denial and disbelief of what was unfolding was all too apparent. I have kept this email. It was a little piece of NYC reaching out to me.
Where were you and what were you doing?

i was at home just waking up. i woke up thinking "yeah, it's my birthday!" and then i turned on the TV and saw the chaos as it was happening. i was in tears and glued to the TV for the rest of the day. i have to admit that every year since then, i feel a little guilty for celebrating my birthday. it's hard to be cheerful to celebrate a day that is so much bigger than me. i remember calling everyone i love, especially those who live in NJ just to make sure they were OK. fortunately for my cousin (who worked in one of the towers), he was late to work that day and was personally spared this tragedy. my heart goes out to all those affected and touched. ♥

I had a class that day but I normally don't watch the news so I didn't know what was going on until later. My boring-as-ever college algebra class started around 8:50 & it was one of those 2-3 hour ones. During a 15 minute break in the middle of the class I walked out to the lobby & the TV was on & there were tons of people standing around it. I was soooo confused & It took me a while to figure out what happened. The atmosphere was completely surreal....

Yes I was driving to the gym and I was almost there when the radio people were saying something about a plane and I just could not believe it. When I walked in the gym all the tv's were showing the plane and everyone was in disbelief. Then the other plane hit and my friend just dropped down and cried. There were no words to say to comfort him.

I was visiting my friend in Portland, from Seattle. His sister called and told us to turn on the news. I was leaving that day anyway, and it was really a reality when I drove by SEA-TAC intnl. airport and the reader board was just flashing "ALL FLIGHTS CANCELLED." I got home to all my friends and everyone's jaw was just hanging open.

I was at work listening to it on the radio. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. When I got home and saw the images on TV, that is when I had to believe it.

I was listening to the radio in my car on my way to work,but I stopped at my granny's instead & was glued to the t.v. for the rest of the day
