A lot of times those home pregnancy tests are wrong.
Another scenario is that you were pregnant and lost it. Very early in pregnancies, especially with the first, it is lost without even knowing.
I tried very hard to get pregnant for about 2 years, so I know all this drama too well. If you take a test too early before your missed period, it may show pregnant, but you could lose it so fast and easy before about 6 weeks pregnant. That is why a doctor usually doesn't see you right off.
I would wait a few days and take another test. The test may have been wrong in the first place or the negative may be a wrong test.

If you had a positive test, then most likely you are pregnant. The fact that you had a negative result the next day most likely means that the pregancy hormone level hCG is not yet high enough in your urine to be picked up on a less accurate test. You should try another to be sure. Use the first urine of the morning. If it has not been 2 weeks since your last period then you might need to wait a little longer. Or, for the most accurate result, go to your doctor and request a blood test. This will give accurate results as soon as the first day after conception.

Well it also depends on how 'late' you are to begin with. Sometimes your hormone levels are just messed up and could give a false positive, OR IF you are indeed pregnant it is so early that the hormone HCG is still too low to register on the 'at home test'. However if you really have to know then set up an appt. with your family Dr. and ask them to run the blood pregnancy test, that is virtually fool proof since it is a blood test and those results you get in the same visit a few miuntes later all depending on your Dr.'s lab.

Well Iam in the same boat as you are right now. Only difference is, I've taken FOUR home tests since the 28th of Aug. 1st was -, so I waited until Labour day morning, that came back +, so I went and bought another two pack of tests. Took one as soon as I got back, that one, 3rd, came back -, 4th one..just took on Sat. morning came back +. So to say I am confused is an understatement to say the least. I am actually just about to head to the clinic here and get one done there. But I am going to ask them to do a urine and a blood test, just to be sure. But best guess, go to your doctor, hospital or clinic and find out for sure. Best of luck!

It means you need to start taking prenatal vitamins. Congratulations! You don't get false positives...only false negatives. It doesn't matter that a negative came after the positive. The test detects a hormone that you only make if there is a baby. The hormone builds more the longer you are pregnant. So, you probably didn't have enough in your urine the second test for it to detect...that's why they sometimes suggest the first day's pee...the assumption is that is has been in you longer, getting more concentrated, and therefore has more hormone to detect.

that happened to me last year while I was pregnant w/#2. I had to go to the doctor to make sure. I took a total of 4 tests, two yes and 2 no!
But, I would wait a couple of days and then take another test and if it comes back negative, and you feel like you're pregnant, go to the doctor. Good luck!

Go to your doctor. I took 2 pregnancy tests and they both said negative. Then I went to the doctor because I know that I was pregnant and I was. Sometimes the levels aren't strong enough and sometimes they are. But I would definitely get checked. Hope all goes well.

Home pregnancy tests aren't 100% and it also depends on how long it has been since your missed period, what time of day, etc. The best thing is if you have missed your period and its been at least 14-21 days go to the doctor and do a urine test. If it has been only a couple days to 14 days to be absolutely sure take the blood test. Also look to see if you have any symptoms: i.e. soar/tender breast, frequent urination, eating habits and sleeping habits have changed.

First, Relax.
Home Pregnancy Tests are notoriously inaccurate. Go to your local health department or your regular doctor and request a blood test, it is the only way to positively know one way or the other. It sure beats getting stressed out!

You will never get a false positive result, but it is possible to get a false negative. I would trust the first test and make an appointment to see an OBGYN.
