I think a better option than on line would be to look for a local paper that offers free ads to readers. A planer is kind of heavy for shipping so I don't think the far-reach of the Internet would be of use since someone local is more likely to be able to just come by after the sale to pick it up. All the community papers around here have free classified ads for non-commercial sales. Even the regular daily newspapers aren't that expensive for their classifieds.

Craigslist.com offers free classifieds. You can specify your location to reach your market more effectively.

Ebay fees are minimal and it will probably sell faster there.
There are also companies that will sell an item on ebay for you if you don't want to deal with listing it - but they take a pretty big cut.

otherwise what about Freeads newspaper..or a similar one. some dont charge for advertising.
