No reason at all. Congratulations by the way, I hope you are very happy together. Remember the Bible was written by MEN not GOD. Men twist words to get an advantage. God just wants us to love each other, not go to war and be decent people. There religions are all hypocritical isolationist bigot farms anyway, who needs it?

Good for you!!! I don't see any reason why people are so darn petty about love. Love is love, no matter what gender or age or race, etc, the two people are. Can't people understand this?
I live in the US where we have a bible thumper as a president and he used religion to win the election. He said he was against abortion and gay marriage, but now that he's president he concentrates more on Iraq than anything else.
Please don't listen to people who think they have all the answers. You know--like WEDNESDAY!!!!!

there is no reason, except for the hypocritical, hateful/fearful bigots who cannot provide any valid reason except for their own ignorant beliefs.
I can only hope that this country will follow suit with civil partnerships if not legal marriages one day. my partner and I are registered domestic partners, and have had a commitment ceremony, but want to have the legal right to marry one day.
congratulations to you both!

Congratulations on your official union!
The only excuse for denying equal rights is fear. But I question what the State would have to fear from granting Homosexual partnerships rights equal to those afforded Heterosexual couples.

I am happy for you. I wish the USA could at least accept the same.
G0y's don't generally get married we just form private covenants. We believe the state doesn't belong in a holy union. But a civil union would be different in that it would guarantee the rights of the partner in case of death or incapacitation.

My dear, you have answered your own question so beautifully, I really cannot think of much to say. Yes, gays do have the same rights as straight couples and not before time!
Many more happy times ahead for you and your civil partner!

Because people can not deal with they can't understand. Thousands of years of society has indoctrinated people into respecting social norms. You can not expect people to change their belief system overnight. You simply must educate the children of the next generations to be open minded.
It doesn't bother me........but I understand why it bothers others. Give it time and it'll change

Good to hear it. It may be a few years but eventually it will become allowable in the States(other than just MA).

Amen to that!
I am lucky enough to be in Canada where if I choose to be married I can be.
As for the Biblical quotations - I am not Christian so you'll hear none of that selective hogwash from me.

Do you really want to be acknowledged by an organisation/religion that can not acknowledge you???
Marriage is only a word, what you have is essentially the same.
The only problem I have with same Sex Families is Children, adoption fine, but not having their own Kids.
As being Gay is Natural (It has been argued to me by Gay people that Homosexuality is a Natural genetic matter, and not a choice as I argued to them), therefore, the Children could well end up being Homosexual as well (as Genetically, Children are miniature copies of their parents - and easily adopt many of their social characterises and mannerisms as they grow up)
