No, they are not the same. Adam Baldwin was the Major who shot the can off the space ship in the movie Independence Day. He was actually in Full Metal Jacket though. He played Animal Mother during the fighting part of the movie. And Vincent Donofrio was Prvt Pyle who shot himself in the latrine.

He is the guy from Full Metal Jacket (he had red belly for days after the beatdown with the bars of soap!). You have the right co-star, wrong movie, though. It was Men in Black not Independence Day. He played the big cockroack that was in the man suit looking for the galaxy on Orion's neck. He looked a hot mess in that movie!
