Platinum is 60% more dense than gold and considerably more expensive. The higher price can partly be attributed to the weight and density of the metal. It is also stronger than white gold. Maintenance (for scratches and normal wear-and-tear) are different. A white gold ring, or example, would show scratches but a platinum would show furrows from normal wear. Platinum is worth a lot more than white gold. You have to remember white gold is still considered gold. Platinum is on a whole different level from gold. It's a lot more expensive and worth much more. If you are thinking of buying either one of these then you need to consider how much your trying to spend. Platinum can cost you up there in the very high thousands. White gold is a bit more affordable if you want a look that is different from basic gold.

The difference in between white gold and platinum is that there are two totally different metals. Platinum is very expensive and the quality is great. White gold is less expensive and it discolors fasts. If you can afford platinum, definitely go with that.
