I have lived in this unit since 1979 but am now retired and 60 years of age. Rent is $1200 but my retirement anuity check is less than $2000.

You need to find out what the guidelines are for your state. You also need to know if that apartment complex even takes Section 8.

It depends upon where you live. There is probably a wait list. I recommend you contact your city's housing authority, and get an application. Once completed with proper documentation, you can meet with a case worker and ask questions. They try to put you in project housing before giving Section 8 vouchers. Some residency requirements apply. There are some instances where you can be given priority: disabled/handicapped, flood or fire, victim of domestic violence w/police report, etc. Hope this helps. Unfortunately I Lokked Into It And Their Is A 3 Year Waiting List But The List Is Closed For Right Now. They Are Only Doing Transfers And People On The List.......sorry :( I Know How You Feel!

it's possible, the best way check is to call your local section 8 office and see how much income your family size is allowed per year, each area is different ... they can let you know if you would be able to apply when the program opens for applications.

There is a three year waiting list. I have been on that list since the beginning of 2002. By the time they get to me I won't need it, but you try. But I know this much you either have to be homeless, burnt out of your home, or flood. So GOOD LUCK!!!!

call and ask. most likely you can if you qualify and the place you live accepts section 8. you may want to speak to your apt. manager.
