My son (7months) is starting to gag on his cereal. There are times that he gags and then vomits from the gagging. He doesn't do this with any of his other food. I know that he is not alergic to the cereal. Is this a normal thing that some babies do? And how can I stop him from the gagging?

Gagging and vomiting is NOT normal behavior. Have you checked that you are giving him the right cereal for his age? Too many lumps or the texture may be upseting him. I would talk to his pediatrician about this...7 months is young and you may be feeding him an incorrect cereal....or possibly you are heating it and it's too hot for him?

Even this small he is already trying to get away with things.. He probably doesn't like his cereal and he is gagging so you don't feed him anymore of it... Kids are very smart.. My 7 year old daughter has been doing this since she was a newborn. She gags and makes herself nauseous just not to eat her food (Healthy food for that matter). No you are not going to be able to stop him.. he has a mind and a personality of his own. Get ready is going to be a bumpy road, where he will not give certain foods a chance...

Up till this point has he liked his cereal? When my daughter and grand daughters were babies they did not like plan cereal. I added just a bit of baby fruit, applesauce, bananas, the pick of the day. Taste that stuff you'd gag too.

You should try to water it down a little and maybe it should help, if it doesnt then there might be something in the cereal that he could be allergic even though you say he isnt. i would call the pediatrician to make sure

yes, its normal when the baby does not like the food or its too thick for him to sip. remember he does not chew his food but slowly sips it then swallows it. its either you dilute the cereal with more water and/or put some squashed fruits in it or change the cereal.

if he gags you may want to make the consistancy of the cereal thinner it may be to thick for him to digest. also when he does that have some juice or water around so that he may wash it down

Well, maybe he does not like it try another brand or kind and make sure it is the right age group, some are ment for toddlers. You can, also try adding more formula or water and make sure it is not too hot or too cold.Or try mixing in fruit & when in doubt call his pediatrician they always have the answers!

it may be too thick.
add more formula/breastmilk.
see if that helps.
also, babies love a tiny bit of fruit, simple ones like banana or applesauce in their cereal.

HE DOES NOT WANT THE CEREAL ANYMORE. THE GAGGING MEANS NO MORE PLEASE. MY SON DID THAT WITH WHOLE MILK. I HAD TO MIX STRAWBERRY QUIK IN IT FOR HIM TO DRINK IT. BEFORE, HE WOULD ACTUALLY MAKE HIMSELF VOMIT.
