My father took our train set he purchase in 1961 to a Hobby Shop to find the value of it.

I would say it's fairly valuable. Lionel train sets are not manufactured any more and are considered a collector's item.

I would try an antique dealer. Sometimes there are people in shopping centers who will evaluate you item for a small fee.

Look on Ebay at similair things..... see what they are going for and what people are listing it for...

it won't be exact but it will give you an idea
