I was going thru same thing and banged my head for two weeks trying to find a remedy all over Google. Lucky that I found the solution (from Zone Alarm's support.) In my case it turned out to be the MSXML, Microsofts XML parser. I downloaded and installed that according to following instructions. Yahoo is absolutely fine now.
TO DO:
Install the latest version of the Microsoft XML Parser from the Microsoft Download Center:

1. Open a browser and navigate to:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads

2. In the Keywords box, type "Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0 Service Pack" (without the quotes) and then click Go.
3. In the list of available downloads, click on the latest Service pack for "Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0".
4. Follow the instructions on your screen to install the software.
5. Once the installation has completed, reboot your system.
