Take a deep breath and chalk it up to some people never get past the phase of he said/she said high school drama....No matter where you go or how you try to avoid it it will always be there...Your best bet is try to let it go and rise above it......I know that is a lot easier said than done especially if your employment could one day be on the line.....Let it go for now maybe ignoring it will pass the message that your too mature a person to let childish behavior get to you...If it persists I would talk to the "group" that it seems to be generating from and tell them in a very kind but firm manner that you do not appreciate or, nor will you tolerate behavior like that towards you....You have done nothing to any of them and if they want to be so malicious and petty they can take there antics elsewhere....

I wish you luck....Adults acting like children that way really chapps me!!!

I hate workplaces liek that, and I have worked in a few. There is nothing you can do except keep doing your job well. You can also let your manager know that you DO check your internet email while on your breaks. This lets them know what you are doing as well as allows them to correct you if this is not proper use of company equipment. It's always better to be up front about what you do so that no one can ever speak ill of you even in gossip.

Also, remember that gossip is never right, and trying to deny it will only make it worse. Gossip is best ignored. Your abilities at your job should speak for themselves and anything you do outside of work is none of anyone's business whethter it's gossip or not.

You should make a joke of the affair on a tea break, telling them that you've heard a ridiculous rumour that you're having an affair. The snitch who reported you for using the Internet is probably a worse offender than you and is detracting attention away from them. Make sure you follow your company Internet policy. Most allow you to surf the net during breaks. If you stick within your works policy, you won't get in bother. Then walk up to their desk and say something like you should see this site on the Internet and give them something they can't wait to see, then tell them you're reporting them to management for breach of the Internet policy. Revenge is sweet.

I know its hard, but sometimes you just have to be the mature one in this situation and let it go and ignore it. I have a psycho in my office, and it feels like, and appears, that she really only comes in to work make my day hell. She does no work, but takes credit for everyone else, mostly mine. The list of the things she has done would take me weeks to write down. All i know is I just come in to work I do my job, I'm honest with my boss (most don't care if you check you e-mail), and I pay no attention to the things she says to other people or the things she does to me. If I did I would have a nervous breakdown by now.

It's not nice when people make your life hard at work. See if you can find out who has been spreading these rumours. Ask people that you get on with if they've heard anything and who from, then confront the person nicely. Chances are whoever-it-is, are having problems at work and just want to pass the blame onto someone else. If it doesn't get better then talk to someone in your HR dept.
Good luck, don't let it drive you crazy. If you've done nothing wrong then, don't worry

I would go to the boss and find out who it was (if he/she will tell you) that ratted you out. Also I'd try to put an end to the gossip about you and the senior manager - that could be really damaging to him.

Good luck - office life can be challenging!

I totally know how you feel, I've been there. I don't work at that place any more. I guess you are a very attractive girl and they are jealous- it can't be anything else. They are sad, pathetic and desperate haters with no lives! I don't know what you should do, I'd like to know that myself. Sorry for being no help but you know you're not alone.

Hit them where it hurts them the most by ignoring them. If they are a bunch of "suck-ups" who kiss management's ***, just keep this in mind, their reign of terror won't last forever because eventually someone will undermine them. Stay strong, girl and just go in and do your job and you'll be okay. Do not talk about your problems you are having with other co-workers because you never know who's truly your friend or not. Good Luck !

Sounds like they don't have enough work to do. Maybe make that suggestion and come up with a few extra projects that everyone can contribute to. Your boss will be amused and your co-workers will start keeping thier mouths shut.
