Hispanics are making their presence felt everywhere now. It's
not just California and Texas anymore. We have about 5,000
that moved into our town of 23,000 in Georgia just in the last
few years. I hear its like that pertty much all over. They are all dealing with day labor sites where the men just hang around wating to get picked up for day and odd jobs. Most are single,
and the local women feel uncomfortable walking past as they get
checked out. We are putting to a vote building a permanent shelter
for them, as they just hang out outside of the 7-11 and any available parking lot. Also, the local handymen are up-in-arms,
as they are the ones who used to get all the odd roofing, landscaping, whathaveyou jobs that the illegals are getting.
The parents are worried about the kids,as they play in the general
vacinity. We also have 3 factories that are almost entirely illegals now. 10+years ago, it was staffed by all locals. If you are unskilled
and black/white, you can forget it..

I also live in Georgia near Dalton. I Dont have a problem with some one coming here to find a better life for themselves and their families the legal way. However I do have a problem with the illegals taking our jobs away, getting welfare and not having to pay taxes. Heck....I dont drive a Cadillac Escalade but I see alot of immigrants that do. I also have a problem with the fact that they want us to learn their language....this is the United states...they should conform to our way of living and speaking. The ones that come here that arent Us citizens should be taken back...but how do we stop it? My son cannot get a job because almost all of the jobs are taken by illegal immigrants.

As long as they come into the states legally, I am all for it. I just know that no matter what there are always people who will "ride the system" and as much as I hate it there is nothing that can be done with the way our government works.
The only thing that really bothers me is the Hispanics that seem to be on the news all the time seem to feel we owe them, and they are always walking around with a Mexican flag. If you came here, great, but this is not Mexico. Why carry another countries flag or expect me to learn your language. At least that is what I see on the news in my town.

I also feel threatened and scared at times...they have not come here legally so they do not get training as to how they should be doing things here...mainly driving and such things...they drive very very badly not abiding by the traffic rules because they mostly dont even have driving license's...it is scary for women especially because mostly all of them are single and unruly...they might be good people but their appearance contradicts this...I am in favor of people coming here to work but am strictly against them coming here illegally...it will create more chaos and a difficulty in tracking people if they ever cause any crime..

I know it is a problem, but personally it doesn't bother me, I am Mexican-American fully legal naturalized citizen, my family is too. The neighborhood I grew up in has a lot of day laborers though, so I think I'm just used to it, and I'm not "scared" of these men, however I do know how annoying it is to be cat called by them - but you just keep on walking.

I live in Texas and nearly 1/2 of the population in my town is hispanics. I haven't noticed any large influx, but I have noticed the schools catering to them more.

Hispanics in general are okay in my book, but the ones who are here illegally do not deserve special treatment. If someone is in our country that does not belong here, they need to spend some time incarcerated in miserable circumstances before being shipped back to their home country. It doesn't matter where they come from.
