It is good to take a cold shower after exercises. However, you should start the shower warm/hot to help relax your muscles. The end of your shower should be cold, this will help increase circulation of blood.

The good:
Cools you down when you are hot.
Can help with circulation if you are in great health.
Can help with avoiding muscle soreness.
The bad:
Can trap dirt, oils, and sweat in your pores giving you blemishes.
Can cause heart problems in people with weak hearts, pace makers, people ages 45+, or overweight.
You need to talk to your doctor or fitness instructor about what is right for you. There is good and bad about any temperature shower. You need to find the one that is right for you. Only a professional can help you do that.

Cold yes, but not icy. It can cause cramping and can be dangerous if you have respiratory or cardiac problems. Start with warm water and progress to cooler and cooler water to avoid shocking your system.
