No. The remembrance should be private and restricted to members of those families who lost loved ones. Would you make the anniversaries of ALL massacres by criminals federal holidays? And the anniversaries of natural disasters as well?

I suspect that Bush and his cronies would rather like it to be a national or federal holiday. They have suceeded in making a great deal of political advantage out of it already - much of which has already played into the hands of the terrorists quite enough!

National and federal holidays should only be awarded for GOOD things which are worth remembering. 9/11 *in itself* is not worthy of elevating to that status.

There can be a one minute silence observed but it cannot be a federal holiday because militant attacks happen on a daily basis in a lot of countries...9/11 has been brought to lime light because it was the biggest attack on USA...
Moreover if we make 9/11 a holiday then it will be a great reminder to people of the loved one's they have lost...nobody asks to make 8/29 (when Katrina hit) to be made a federal holiday...

Patriots Day is already a day of rememberance because of September 11, 2001. It's patriots day because we're honoring those who lost their lives, as well as honoring our country.

It could really never be a day of feasting and stuff like a holiday.

Is Pearl Harbor recognized as a day of remembrance? This will bring mixed emotions.

On one hand, do we stop everything to honor those who fell or do we work for the sake of showing those cowards we all stand together.

Most definitely, it has been proclaimed to be Patriot Day so why not make it a federal holiday?

No. It would be a sign to the enemy that they have accomplished something. It should be a working day to prove that everyone can overcome and carry on and they shall never win.
