Das Boot (1981).
Hands down, it is the best movie I have ever seen. Directed by Wolfgang Petersen, this movie is nothing short of brilliant.
Das Boot, considered by many to be the best war movie ever made, gives the audience a taste of the grinding boredom and the sheer terror experienced by a German U-Boat crew at the time when the tide of the war in the Atlantic was starting to go badly for the German Submarine Navy.
You must see the Director's Cut version. And I highly recommend watching it in German, with English subtitles.

That's a tough one! I love so many movies, actors, and actresses to choose only one!
My faves are ones with Tom Hanks, like "The Green Mile" and "Forest Gump". Other goodies are "Gladiator", "Pearl Harbor", "Unleashed" and comedies like "Without a Paddle" & "Mitch Hedberg's Stand-up comedy".

I saw "Raiders of the Lost Ark" half a dozen times in the theater in my younger years. Although that's not my favourite genre of movie right now, I'd still have to say it will always be my favourite movie. (Nostalgia thing)
