All of AC/DCs albums are good. Better if it's with the vocals of the late Bonn Scott (god, I loved that man's voice!) Brian Johnson sort of screams the lyrics but Bonn his voice was something else.

High Voltage is AC/DC's first album and in my opinion it's their best. I'd get that one first and then go from there.

My top three albums of all time are as follows:

1: Blood Sugar Sex Magik - Red Hot Chili Peppers
So much better than their recent stuff, it's pure rock funk all the way. I've been playing it for 15 years and I'm still discovering new bits about it that I love.
2: Abbey Road - The Beatles
You've got Come Together, Here Comes the Sun, I want you (she's so heavy), Something, Oh Darlin', and then the best rock medley ever heard.
3: Led Zeppelin 2
Four absolute masters of their trade knocking out 9 amazing tracks. I just think this album flows really well.

these are all the rock albums i've given 5 stars on rateyourmusic.com, not including compilations:

r.e.m - automatic for the people
guns n roses - appetite for destruction
pearl jam - ten (+3 tracks)
nirvana - nevermind
nirvana - in utero
alice in chains - dirt
jesus & mary chain - psychocandy
metallica - ...and justice for all
queensrÿche - operation: mindcrime
oasis - definitely maybe

all as close to perfect as you can get without being perfect. i've got quite a few non-rock albums on 5 stars too, and a lot of great albums on 4 & 1/2 stars. i consider virtually all the albums i've given 4 stars and above to be essential
