It should be 1 gigabyte = 1 024 megabytes

But some times people round this down to 1000 , instead of the correct 1024 (based on multiples of 8 which is how the bits & bytes add up on computers) .

Hosting providers are bad about rounding down, because it's in their best interest to do so. When buying a device such as a hard drive that normally break it down to megabytes to confirm they are truly selling you the real amount.

So again, the correct answer is...

1 gigabyte = 1 024 megabytes

1024 and i tell u how
old pentium 1 ram = 16mb
new p1 ram = 32
p2 = 64
p3 = 128
celeron = 256
p4 = 256/512
pentium d = 512/1024 (1024=1gb)
the key is to multiply by 2

It is usually 1024 MG=1GB but very often, in nearly all books..u'll find the figure being rounded up to 1000..so its ok if u write 1000MG=1GB...but of course the exact answwer remains 1024MG=1GB......
