in 1966,england won the world cup..england won over germany in the wembley stadium of their country.that was once they crowned as a champion as the next world cup they didnt win it. in case of this year 2006 wcup they also failed to win,it is has been 40 years they not win it after the memorable winning of 1966.

See if you can get hold of a copy of the "Historical Abstract of the United States"---ask your reference librarian.
She/he may also be able to help point you to a site that can get you some cost of living estimates, or you can see about pulling price information from old newspaper ads or catalogs. OLD CATALOGS ARE A WONDERFUL GIFT FOR HISTORIANS--see if you can raid an attic or bookstore. (I'd start with a Google search for "cost of living" 1966 and start checking the links....)
Also see about a book called "Timetables in History".
Think Facts on File has a huge book called "The Sixties", which is a pretty wide-scope look at the decade.
Hit the history shelves, and just SCAN; grab any title that looks relevant to the era, and scan the index/table of contents. Also consider cross-checking cultural/pop history of the era.
Good luck!
