That depends solely on how much each person views. If they are viewing vids it will use ALOT more than viewing text files.

it depends on how large your pages are (how many kb is each page or MB? if you are making rich pages - take that and divide 40 GB by your avg page size. So, the average page size would be about 4kb to 10kb, (say 5000 bytes average) - now 40 GIG is 40 Billion bytes allowance of data transfer so about ... rougly 8 million hits/page views approximately. its plenty

I'm pretty sure 40 gigabytes is a reference to storage space, Bandwidth is usally given in Mps (megabytes per second) or Gps (gigabytes per second).
You need to know what your service type is:
DS0 = 1X64kps (1 user)
DS1/T1 = 24 X DS0 1.5mps
DS3/T3 = 28 X DS1/T1 43 mps
OC3 = 3 X DS3/T3 1.2gps
OC12 = 12 X DS3/T3 5.1 gps
OC48 = 48 X DS3/T3 20.1 gps

40 GB is a lot for bandwidth. If you are not serving videos or large downloads, it should handle things just fine. Better is to check the processor and memory of the server to see if it can handle enough database queries

That's a tough call. It depends on what type of site it is. If you have alot of LARGE graphics or files to download, you could burn through your bandwidth with only a dozen or so users.
If you're serving up HTML/ASP/etc. pages, then you could get thousands of hits without exceeding your bandwidth.

That depends on the size of your pages. Obviously if you have multiple high resolution photos on a page it is going to use more of your allowance than a text only page.

It depends how heavy your page is. For example, a 12 Mb MP3 file playing on your site is charged once per time it is viewed.

Depends on size and amount of traffic. 40gb isn't that much though. These guys give like 250gb for $6.
