when i was a little girl i was really attracted to a cartoon character, i thought he was really handsome.
I was about 7 i think, anyway i had visions of marrying this character from my fav cartoon, but there was a problem(well quite a few actually) you see the cartoon was called DOGTANIAN and the muskahounds - yes you got it- the Character was a DOG.
The one i fancied was a sort of spaniel one i think?

The good news is that i am not attracted to cartoon characters of any species now, but it bothers me how weird i was.
Should i have been sectioned? Should i have confessed?

I used to fancy Mighty Mouse, which is far worse. But I remember the spaniel you mean and he was pretty fit!

It's not too weird. Do a Google search on the furry fandom, tons of people, even adults still find cartoon characters attractive! The thing to keep in mind is that these are 'anthropomorphic animal' characters - animal characters with strong human characteristics. As long as you're not attracted to actual living dogs or cats, you're okay :)

Kids look up to others for guidance, and if your role model was a cartoon, don't fret about it. It is very common, especially since you were 7.

I was 11 when I had a crush on one of the guys in the cartoon Voltron (the black lion -Keith - oh yeah).

As long as you aren't still writing letters confessing your love now, relax. It was just you...being a kid.

WOW! I remember Dogtanian. Do you remember the theme tune? The fat dog kept eating a piece of bread that never got any smaller!! I miss that cartoon....

anyway, not you aren't messed up and it's good to get these worrying things off your chest :) lol

What are you talking about? You sound like a normal person to me. You were just a little kid that really didn't know anything. If you STILL had a fantasy with this cartoon dog, that would be a problem.

When I was a kid, Simon Le Bon (from Duran Duran) was my imaginary friend. I used to make Mum set a place for him at the table and everything. Then he went and I got an imaginary dog called Santa Pier. He was a golden retriever. I didn't fancy him though. But I was wierd!

What I am trying to say is we all did wierd things when we were kids, don't let it get to you! Although I wouldn't tell too many people...

If it makes you feel better I used to be attracted to a cartoon character also. Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit. She's hot

What you were experiencing is perfectly normal. Kids idolize many types of people and characters. I used to want to date the guy from Speed Racer I thought he was handsome. But soon we grow out of that phase because we all know the difference between reality and make believe.

No you're not weird at all, we are all programmed to feel affection and love in things we feel safe with and admire for one thing and another. As a child a cartoon character is as real as anything.

You're not disturbed! How many men fancy and fantasize about Jessica Rabbit? A female cartoon that's married to a talking rabbit! Now that's f'd up!!
