Would you build it on fear, love, need or somethin else? Who should be prayed to? should there be any prayers at all? Should there be any God/Gods in it at all? If you could decide - what should it be like?

The problem with any religon is that, assuming you allow free-will (would you really want the work of not?!), some people will not believe, some will believe something different, basically eventually conflict will result so good intentions would be shot to pieces.

Basically, people are a problem.

So the ideal religon is for grass blades only, no dogma attached, they show their belief by growing, or not as they choose. They have limited understanding, just enough to feel pity for all other things non-grass.

The religion I would advocate would be one where all people are included and are taught that there is no need to pray to any God or deity unless one so chose. The power we think is Gods own is actually present within all of us and the way to it is self discovery. We would also start a commune and grow the finest weed around. BC bud.

What a great question!
I have thought about this a lot.
I think that is exactly what has happened.
The development of most religion seems to me to be just what the big shots ordered.
Let's make a religion where all of you give us as much of your money and time as we can squeeze out of you, and do exactly what we tell you- with no input from you, in exchange for never having to REALLY die, and all your suffering MEANS something important.
Maybe Buddhism (or any other) didn't start like that, but corruption makes it so.
Lottism=that would be the name of my religion.
Doctrine would involve a love of the world, nature, and humans in the role of caretaker, not the malevolent force humans are today with blessings of current religions.
The emphasis will be on having a healthy body and mind, support to get over addictions, and negative lives.
"God' would be a potholder used t handle hot dishes, like why did this happen to my sister? God, the potholder.
Why am I ill with cancer? God, the potholder
What should we do about all those bad people? God the potholder.
The pot holder would not tell you what to do, or erase your pain, but would sort of be an understood "joke" that helps you get past hurtful things, to soothe your bobos, and answer questions that are unanswerable..sort of like godsare used today-only we are all in on the JOKE! NO one takes it seriously.
The religion would embrace all sorts of creative endeavors, art, music, sculpture, dance, writing, and theatre to express the joys and sorrows of life on our earth and our imagination about any topic-no subject would be censored, except for age-appropriateness.
Keeping our children safe and as innocent as possible would be a valuable concept.
SEX, birth, death, marriage, euthanasia, new scientific discoveries, beginning of a girl's menstral cycle and the growth of beards in boys would be great celebrations, like a baptism into a new stage of life.
Yoga, meditation, balance in life, exercise, good clean diets, and detachment from the dangerous allegiances of the world would be encouraged as good ideas-as you are willing and able.
A dangerous allegiance would be anything that takes your mind/body off being kind, loving, generous, and forgiving of others or wastes your time and talents to fritter away your life, the only life you have FOR SURE---things like, war, bullying, drug abuse, alcoholism, laziness, fighting, greed, any addictive or obsessive behaviour.
Choice and self-determination would be given as free a rein as possible.
Generosity to others-not a building or heirarchy-would be encouraged. If you want a building or arena for your group-make one- but don't expect others to continue caring for it. Think tent or metal casino. Outdoors is preferable.
There would be no priest, nuns, pecking order; women, children and men all equal to contribute. Someone would be voted or appointed by others, like drawing straws, designated to run things each time there is a meeting.
Praying would be optional, used like making a mental list for some, a pep talk to others. You can talk to/make promises/ curse the potholder, if you want, but understand it is a pot holder!
The symbol of the Church of Lottie would be a pot-holder.
Basically a perfect sample of our convert would be vegetarian, peaceful, physically fit, mentally stable and sober, very well read and interested in a cultured, gentle life and creative, kind, and loving and not delusional. Happiness, rationality, taking care of others and the earth, and loving a good long life/accepting a good short death would be the goal.

The religion would not descriminate against anyone. Every single individual would be considered a brother or sister no matter what sexual orientation, ethnicity, etc. Everybody's beliefs would be taken into consideration instead of stoning them for not believing what we do. It would basically be based on love and peace, which are two things that this world is lacking.

I would take the most important and relevant parts from all the major religions and create a religion of my own where the fear of being sent to hell is not the reason why you go to church, mosque or temple or synagogue but because you believe.

My only commandment would be "BE NICE" its the only thing all current religions have in commen. Thats why I dont pigeon hole myself to just one.

No long texts or scriptures because they can be interpretted in too many ways, hence the religious wars.

Religion is the ultimate paradox, its meant to bring people together but its been the cause of more wars and dealths than anything else, even disease.

It would be the religion of the self.

It would worship the individual, and the need for achievement. The tithe would be productive achievement for the goal of exchange for wealth. It would have the highest morals be the happiness of ones own self. It would preach the evils of altruism, and the glory of selfishness.

It would be called, and IS called Objectiveism....

but it already exists.

It would be based on respect for the individual. People should pray to themselves, concentrate on their Net Creativity (their future usefulness compared to their consumption).
Money (symbols representing the value of people's life) would be a sin. People would have to exchange work or products in person.
Gods would be whatever idea needs to be represented by metaphor, except to children, where metaphors aren't allowed to be discussed until children understand that they are simply ideas, not real.
(Well, maybe they could play FSM (flying spaghetti monster) games if they want.)

Acceptance and respect of life would be the highest ideals.
Other things such as defence from those would cause us harm would have to be factored in.
The penultimate deity would be the universe itself and adherents would endeavour to achieve harmony with the universe.
